Keaton's Story

I figured I better write this down before I forget it.

Keaton's story begins on May 28, 2011. That was the day I was determined to have him. Shawn took me to the mall to walk laps before he had to go to work. I wasn't feeling any pain or anything, and had decided that this child was NEVER coming. So, after Shawn went to work I went walking again. Still nothing. So I just gave up. I had 2 due dates 5/28/11 & 6/6/11. For the last 7 weeks of the pregnancy I was measuring to the May date. My Doctor's told me not to count on that date cause I was a first time mom, and they usually always go late.

So later in the evening I decided to pamper myself, I went out to eat, watched a movie and just relaxed. I had heard a rumor that if you rub the back of your ankles/legs when you are pregnant it will put you into labor. So before bed that is exactly what I did. It felt so good, and I was asleep in no time.

Shawn came home from work around 2:45am. After he had gotten ready for bed, and was headed upstairs to eat I told him to leave the bathroom light on for me. Not more than 15 minutes later (3am), I woke up to a really sharp pain in my stomach. As I got up and headed to the bathroom, I realized what just happened. MY WATER BROKE!!! I had to yell for Shawn to come help me. I was alittle freaked out! So he grabbed a baby book and told me that we had 12-24 hours before anything was going to happen. About 5 minutes later the contractions stared coming, strong and fast. So after about an hour & a half, I called me Doctor. She didn't sound convinced that I was in hard labor, and told me to call back when I couldn't handle it anymore.....We called her back 15 minutes later and told we needed to head in.

We met her at the clinic, and in between contractions, I was pacing pretty good. She thought I was over reacting, and made me climb 4 flights of stairs to her office. When she was able to check me I was already at an 8! WHAT!!! I had only been in labor for an hour & a half at this point. So we were headed to the Hospital to have a baby!

When we arrived at the Hospital, we weren't in our room for more than 10 minutes, and I told her that I had to PUSH. And 45 minutes later, Keaton Shawn Hunter arrived at 7:02am! I had no time for drugs or anything. And I wouldn't have any other way. From start to finish my labor was only 4 HOURS!!! I know how to get the job done!

Keaton's Stats:
Born: May 29, 2011
Time: 7:02 am
Weight: 8lbs
Length: 20.5in.

Keaton, we love you more than any words can describe. We are so grateful to have you in our family! We are truly blessed to be your parents!

36 weeks, and maternity pictures

36 weeks! Really?!? I swear these last weeks are just flying by! 4 more weeks to go, and I'm not going to lie, I'm starting to get really nervous about this whole labor and delivery thing. I just hope I know what to do with a baby when he gets here.

Last week we had some maternity pictures taken. I can't wait to see them! I'm so happy that we did the session, I want to remember this time in my life. Here is a picture, I will post more when I get them.

Baby "K"~ He is now in the "head down" position. He has started to slow his movements down, so hopefully that's a good sign that it's getting close. He has started to run his feet/heels across my stomach and it doesn't feel to great. I can't wait to watch him stretch out when he is here.

Mama~ I'm so ready to have my body back to myself. I'm tired of it taking me 5-10 minutes to put my shoes on. I can't see my feet anymore, or touch them for that matter. I'm still dealing with retaining water in my feet, and the last couple of days it has started to move up my legs. I'm going to talk to my Doctor about it this week at my appointment. Other than those issues, I feel great!

34 weeks, and a baby shower!

WOW! 34 weeks! I'm not going to lie, I never thought that I would see this week. I can't believe how fast everything is happening. It seems like just yesterday that we told our families that we were pregnant. Now, we only have 6 weeks left til we get to meet this little guy.

My cousin threw us the sweetest baby shower! I'm so thankful for her doing that for us. I had a great time, and it was so nice to see family that I haven't seen in a while. Baby "K" got spoiled, but that's okay cause I think that he is worth it! :)

Baby "K"~ Everything is going awesome with him. We had a Doctor's appointment and everything is looking awesome! He is growing, and moving around like he is suppose to. I'm still measuring a week bigger than my due date, so hopefully he will be here the end of May. He sure loves his daddy. It's so crazy to watch him move around like a mad man when Shawn teaches Sunday School. I can't wait to see them together!

Mama~ Still suffering from swollen feet. Some days I can't even get my shoes on. But other than that, I don't have any complaints. I feel great! I'm still sleeping pretty through the night, so that's a plus. I just wish that I had some comfy clothes. I swear the worse part of being pregnant is the maternity clothes.

Until next time.....

32 weeks, 8 more to go!!!

The weeks keep flying by! "Baby K" will be here sooner than we know it. We finally set up his crib, and have it already. We just need a baby now.

Baby K~ Just keeps growing. We had a baby class this week, and were able to listen to his heartbeat again! The midwife said everything sounded & looked great! From what I have been reading, he is about 16-18 inches long & weighs about 3.5-4lbs. He almost fully cooked!! He & his Daddy have bonded so much in the last couple weeks. Every time Shawn puts his hand(s) on my tummy Baby K goes NUTS!!!! I'm so happy that Shawn can share this special time with me :)

Mama~ Still feeling great for the most part. I have started retaining water in my feet, so it has been interesting trying to find shoes that will fit. By the end of the day my feet are HUGE and JIGGLE! It's the weirdest thing ever, because I only reatain from my ankle bone down. I still sleep great through the night.

That's all I have to report about now!

30 Weeks, let the countdown begin.....

WOW!!!! 30 weeks! The nerves are finally starting to set in. I hope that I can handle this. We still don't have everything ready for him, but does anyone really? We are just counting down the weeks until we get to hold our little boy in our arms :)

Baby K: Still nameless, I told Shawn we should call him Keaton for a week, than call him Kellen for a week to see what we like better, but so far that hasn't happened. So he is Baby K. Hes a VERY ACTIVE child! He loves to kick me in the ribs every chance he gets. Since he has become so active, Shawn likes to sit there with his hand over my belly and feel him go crazy! I love the feeling of those two bonding. I could sit there all day and just watch them if I could. :) Shawn is going to be such an awesome daddy!!!

Me: I still awesome! I feel like gravity is pulling me forward, and am going to face plants some days. We started going to the gym @ 5am, I hate getting up that early, but I feel so much better the rest of the day. I think that I have given up on maternity pants. My sister let me borrow some of her old jeans, and let me tell you, they are so comfy!!!!!! I don't know why i didn't start wearing them sooner. The only complaint that I really have is, I'm getting cankles! I have to wear ankle socks, and slip on shoes now. Otherwise, my feet fall asleep. By the end of the day, I don't have an ankle bone, and it feels like I have shin splints. So, hopefully I can get some relief from that soon!

That's all I have in the baby department for now!

28 Week Update

I can't believe that I'm 28 weeks! time is flying by, and we are NOWHERE near ready for this child. We haven't even started on his room yet. But I'm sure as soon as the "nesting" phase hits it will be on like donkey Kong. We just need the weather to clear up so we can replace the window in the room, and then everything will be cake after that.

For this little one, He is growing & growing everyday. He LOVES music! He goes crazy at Church with music is playing and people are singing. He also loves it when I turn the radio up in the car. I can't wait to see him. I wonder everyday who he is going to look like. We have finally settled on TWO NAMES! we are down to Kellen & Keaton. I told Shawn that I don't want to name him til after he is born so we can see what name fits him better. One thing I know for sure is, he's going to be pretty darn cute!

As for this Mama, I'm doing really good. My lower back and hips have stoped giving me problems for the most part. The heartburn just depends on the day now. The only thing that I'm dealing with are cramps in my calves. They hurt so bad! I only get them when I wake up and stretch my legs out. But for the rest of the day, my legs kill. I go to the Doctor this week, so I'm going to see what we can do for that. But other than that, I have nothing to complain about.

Sgt. Hunter

So much has been going on with all things baby, but I thought I would take a minute to tell you that Shawn was promoted to Sergeant! We are still in a world of shock over the whole thing. Within about a 2 week time frame they held interviews and he was hired. So not much time to sit and think about the whole thing. We both think that it is a GREAT oppertunity for him, and we can't wait to see what the future holds for us.

His new title entails: being the daytime Sgt./School resource officer. Plus, he is also in charge of the new officer training program. He has a lot on his plate. But I know he is up for the task. He's schedule is so much for flexable throughout the school year, and in the summertime he will patroling on the streets.

He has accomiplished so much in the short 4 1/2 years that he has been there. It's awesome the see that he is the go to guy with his coworkers. I'm proud of him, and all the hard work that he does for out family!
